What is considered advertising? Advertising is defined in the license law as any manner, method or activity by which a licensee makes known to the general public, properties for sale or lease or any services that require a real estate license. It includes newspaper, magazines, radio television, yard and other signs, websites, business cards, billboards, car placards, postcards, etc.

Key Items to Check for Every time:

  1. Do I appropriately use logos?

    • Do I have all the correct logo / broker name?

      Print advertising should generally contain equal opportunity, realtor, brokerage logo/name, and team logo/nam if applicable

      Make sure your logo is the New North Star Logo

      Make sure your using Coldwell Banker Heritage in full (Realtors has been dropped in past 10 years)

      Social Advertising should include brokerage name in social handle / page name

    • Am I using the correct logo for color scheme?

      Dark backgrounds should use White, White or light backgrounds should use a Blue or Black logo.

      Make sure you are using a PNG and it does not have the white background behind your logo

    • Is brokerage logo of equal or larger prominence than your name or logo?

    • Is brokerage logo on the same side as your name or logo?

  2. Did I add the disclaimer? [Applicable for print items, separate disclaimer for business cards]

  3. Did I follow all ethical, legal and brand standards for this type of advertisement? Consider resources above.
